It all began in the summer of 1994 with one truck, one van and one very determined businessman.
SLi commenced trading in August 1994 with the backing of HSBC Bank in association with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
This followed a £6,000 business loan application by the founder Richard Triolo on a Monday in July and by Friday of the same week
he received the good news. Although, HSBC actually gave start up support of £30,000 as they were so impressed by the new business plan.
The intended seven year loan was paid back within just two years as the company had already exceeded the original forecast prepared for HSBC.
Richard Triolo (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/rtriolo) continues to grow the business and his determination is
as strong today if not stronger than it was back in 1994. In the beginning he hand painted vehicles and applied the vinyl sign writing
at weekends which continued for a few years whilst the business was becoming established. Since the business began it has developed,
embraced and introduced many new and innovative technologies as well as industry advancements that were unaffordable in the very early
stages of trading. The business in fact commenced trading with no warehouse, fork lift or computers which is an unimaginable situation
in the world of logistics today.
